Chez Gèrard: Covent Garden

After a night of tottering around London sipping on champagne and Mojito's in 6 inch heals for Vogue's Fashion Night Out, we found our selfs in Covent Garden in need of a bite to eat and soft drink.

A local club promoter tried tempting us into a near by club and in return he was faced with 'where is good to eat?' probably not what he was expecting to hear, but kindly pointed us in a few directions.

After wandering around Covent Gardens Plazza and completely forgetting all directions given we took a turn up a small airy stone stair case and before we knew it were sat outside under the night sky browsing a menu in French.

A resturant, bar and brasserie known as Chez Gèrard that offers a french dinning experience (hence the menu being in french) cooked with the freshest of ingredients.

I ordered the Salade de Lègumes from the Á La Carte menu which was a cold salad of artichokes, fine beans, baby leeks, tomatoes and mushrooms with a side of fries.

Although it does looks very green the falvours together were fantastic and the fries cooked to absolute perfection.

The menu caters for all tastes and has a particular reputation for its steaks. With its meat sourced from 24 farms across the west country and 'Cou Nu' chicken from Landes France this most certainly is something not to tried.

Its drinks menu was just as beautiful as its food menu from world wines to champagne, cocktails to mocktails and water to coffee.

We sipped mocktails and talked the evening away.
I have to say mocktails are the best way of ending an evening of drinking, they look just as beautiful as cocktails and leave you hangover free the next morning.

Thankyou of a lovely dinner the perfect end to an amazing night out.

So if your ever in Covent Garden and in need of a drink with the girls or off on a romantic dinner date be sure to check out Chez Gèrard.

(sorry about the quality of the photos, these were taken on my blackberry)

Vogue Fashion Night Out: London

Last night London for the third year running hosted Vogues Fashion Night Out #FNO, fashion houses to beauty stores open their doors for one night off champagne, cocktails, music and goodies.

As the sun set over London anyone who was anyone threw on their best heals and headed to their favourite fashion boutiques.

Kurt Geiger celebrated the launch of  'Everything but the dress' with champagne,a photo booth with accessories from the new collection to style yourself with and 100 limited edition bracelets.
I was luckily enough to receive one my self.

Links of London centered their evening around their lasted marketing story ' The Chemistry of Friendship' with drinks served in test tubes, a periodic table cake and biscuit bracelets for their guests.

Mulberry pulled out all the stops and threw a fantastic party in the New Bond street store.

Alice Gold was on the decks while waiters dressed in traditional red hunting wear treated the ladies to Mojitos and the gents to a cold beer. Hungary guests were served nibbles of mini flat bread pizzas and traditional English pies while they browsed the latest pieces from the autumn collection.

Face painting, Manicures and fortune telling broke up the shopping.

I joined the small que for the face painting and patiently waited my turn. I sat on the chair and requested a small Mulberry tree on just to the side of my eye. I'd watched the couple of people in front of me pick standard face designs from a book and it really didn't take my fancy to have a butterfly or something that had 1000 other people have chosen before.

Whispers broke out and the Mulberry tree was the talk of all those around.

On leaving the store you were treated to a selection of country animal masks to play dress up with and a pop-up nut stall.

Louis Vuitton welcomed you with French maids with balloon dogs on Louis Vuitton leads and served with Mojito's.

Daks had live models in the windows.

Sandro, South Molton Street treated guests to a photo booth complete with wind machine.

A huge thank you is to Vogue for the organisation of the event and to all the fashion house for  making it such an fantastic evening and treating us so well.

A particular thank you to the gentlemen in Mulberry who tendered to our every needs from drinks and goodies to checking the stock and location of products.

Thank you Louise

'Everything But The Dress'

When I left for the south of France nearly 3 weeks ago Kurt Geiger was under going a re-fit for its new collection 'Everything But The Dress'.

The collection is what it says, featuring all accessories from hair ties and clips to i-pad cases and necklaces, simply EVERYTHING BUT THE DRESS.

The collection was developed from watching customers queuing to enter Kurt Geiger during Vogue's Fashion Night Out who were described as 'mini Christmas trees' by Rebecca Farrar-Hockley. In return she turned to the cheif executive for the brand and said, ''That's the answer, its not just do a handbag line, its to do everything but the dress. '' (thisislondon.co.uk)

So after leaving work today rather then crossing the road to avoid the temptation of going in like I normally do I thought i'd check out the new collection. Not knowing what to expect from the collection, as I have missed the majority of the media hype from being away I entered with an open mind and was pleasantly surprised and particularly drawn to the rows of gold parcels, in which I can only describe as envelopes made from what looks like bubble wrap.

Clear perspex boxes displayed the collection, with rows of the small gold envelopes that contain the accessories. After though-ally browsing the collection and chatting with the sales assistant I left with a little red bag, tied neatly with red and white ribbon on my arm.

I chose a long gold necklace, which is perfect for this upcoming autumn/winter with gold being such a key colour.
The design of the necklace will sit simply with almost every colour and just add a little bit of sparkle to a pain top for work or a slinky dress for the evening, making it such a versatile item.

Its first outing tomorrow night for Vogue's Fashion Night will see me in the que for Kurt Geiger wearing not any necklace but one that was developed from a couple of words from watching the same que on the same night just a year before.
